Public Address Announcer ( Division I Women’s Basketball )

The Public Address Announcer is a key component to the gameday operations staff. They are responsible for providing all announcements in the arena; this includes pregame announcements, player introductions, in-game updates and details, as well as any promotions, halftime and post-game announcements, as needed. They must abide by all NCAA, Division I, and Big Ten Rules and Regulations while maintaining clear communication with game operations staff and officials.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide a comprehensive knowledge of given sports rules and regulations
    • Demonstrate knowledge of and/or a willingness to learn specific game protocol as it pertains to Big Ten and NCAA play
  • Observe and react to events on the court and accurately announce information
  • Provide an excellent speaking voice and ability to project and annunciate and the ability to read announcements in a timely manner
  • Follow instructions and cues of gameday staff
  • Demonstrate an ability and willingness to work flexible hours
  • Possess a willingness to and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Use and/or provide a willingness to learn Shoflo to follow the script and adapt to any in-game changes
  • Present yourself in a professional manner while in public, including all social media networks and platforms

Required Qualifications*

  • 1-2 years of experience in professional speaking (public address announcing, radio broadcasting, voice-over talent, public speaking, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the game of Women?s Basketball as well as rules and regulations
  • High energy and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Flexible schedule – Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • High ethical standards and commitment to University of Michigan Athletics? core values
  • High School diploma or equivalent
